Automation System: BSI Simian
<div id="Text"> ==BSI Simian== [Automation_Systems|back] ((('''WORK IN PROGRESS''' - Please understand that we are actively rewriting much of our documentation and this page is currently "under construction"; if there's anything that you'd like to see added to and/or expanded upon, please let us know by [SendSmile|sending us a smile].))) ===Introduction=== RadioTraffic.com converts to a specific BSI Simian log format. ===Station Configuration=== To configure RadioTraffic.com to work with BSI Simian, you will first need modify the station configuration to utilize BSI Simian as the automation system. In the administration module, open 'Stations'. Select the station you want to configure and double click. Once the station configuration is visible, select the 'Files' tab. Select the 'Product' to BSI Simian using the drop down selection tool. The 'Automation Log Path' is where RadioTraffic.com will export the log to, so set this to the file system folder that BSI Simian will pull the file from. The 'Station Identifier' will need to match the 'station number' described in the BSI Simian User Manual (which is a number from 0 to 9). Here is a screen shot showing the settings required based on our log export. <center>[image||{UP}Simian%2fSimianImportConfiguration.jpg]</center> Note: The delimiter is a pipe character ("|") which is the shift backslash key on most keyboards, not the letter I or L. ===Cart Numbers=== BSI Simian system can use 10 digit alpha-numeric cart numbers. ===Automation Commands=== We support sequence #, +, @, ! and * (translated to a blank space) sequence commands. Additionally, we support the & and <nowiki>[M]</nowiki> variants. These are exported as MACRO lines. Use the sequence symbol in the "Command" field and use the "Cart Number" for the command number used in BSI WaveStation. We also support a special format for these so they will export as AUDIO LINES; simply double them (ie. ##, ++, @@ and **). Note: If the command is not understood, the sequence defaults to a -. ===Log Notes=== Log Notes are currently not exported. ===Programs=== Programs are currently not exported. ===Avails/Breaks=== Avail markers do not export to the BSI Simian export and are used strictly inside of RadioTraffic.com as a means of scheduling. ===Log Reconciliation=== We also support automatic log reconciliation for the BSI Simian as-aired logs. To configure this feature, you need to determine where these files are located on your network and use that path to configure the "Aired Log Path". The file name is expected to be YYMMDD.lst; YY is two digit year, MM is two digit month and DD is two digit day. Additionally, make sure you configure Siman as follows: <center>[image||{UP}Simian%2fSimianAsPlayConfiguration.jpg]</center>{br} * Within Simian, go to the Tools menu and choose Program Options (playback has to be stopped for this option to be available). * On the Program Options window that appears, go to the General tab. * In the lower left corner are the settings for Event Log Settings, make sure ASCII is chosen rather than MS Access. As for exactly what we are looking for and will process from this file: * We are looking for a pipe delimited file containing 11 columns separated by 9 pipes with each line having a Cr and Lf. Each line represents an event and there are no "column headers". * The columns are processed as follows: (Note: The columns are numbered starting at 1.) ** '''Time''' (column 2) - The time in HH:MM:SS format. ** '''Cart #''' (column 7) - The cart number that will be matched on the [Log]. ** '''Marker''' (column 8) - The word "AUDIO" (sans quotes); represents that the event was an audio event. ** '''Description''' (column 9) - This isn't actually used in the reconciliation, but rather as a friendly way to communicate what was found on the as-play file that is not on the [Log] as a reference to the [User]. ** '''Other''' - The other columns are not used for reconciliation purposes. ==FAQ== ((('''TODO''' Add any questions as they come up to this section.))) ==Additional Information== ((('''TODO''' What other tidbits of information might be useful related to this subject.))) </div> <DIV class=transcludedpage> <div id="Side">{toc} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} {br} </div> </div> <SCRIPT type=text/javascript> var navItem = document.getElementById('ManualTab'); navItem.className = 'active'; </SCRIPT>
